Care Requirements

1. Lighting (Low to High)

• Dwarf Sagittaria is remarkably adaptable and can survive in low-to-moderate lighting, though it will grow taller and more upright.

• To achieve a dense, low-growing carpet, moderate to high lighting is ideal, which encourages it to spread outward via runners rather than reaching upward.

2. CO2 & Fertilization

• CO2 Injection: Not required.

• Substrate & Nutrients: As a heavy root feeder, it heavily benefits from a nutrient-rich aquasoil or standard substrate supplemented with root tabs. Liquid fertilizers will provide a secondary boost through the water column.

Planting and Propagation

• How to Plant: Separate individual plantlets from the bunch and insert them into the substrate using aquascaping tweezers, spacing them about an inch apart. Ensure the roots are buried, but keep the crown above the substrate line to prevent rotting.

• Propagation: Propagation is exceptionally fast. The plant naturally sends out underground runners (stolons) that sprout new baby plantlets, quickly forming a dense, grassy carpet across the foreground.

• Trimming: If individual blades grow too tall or out of bounds, you can safely trim the leaves with sharp aquarium scissors. The plant will recover quickly and push out new growth.
