Checkered barb

Add a lively, glittering pattern to your aquascape with the Checkered Barb. Also known as the Checkerboard Barb, this exceptionally peaceful schooling fish features a beautiful mesh-like pattern of black and silver scales that resembles a checkerboard. When settled into a mature aquarium, males develop striking reddish-orange margins on their dorsal and anal fins, creating an eye-catching display as they zip through the water column.

Unlike more boisterous barb species, Checkered Barbs are highly cooperative and gentle, making them an excellent choice for community setups, nano tanks, and planted layouts. They are active swimmers that remain in a tight, synchronized school, adding continuous energy to the middle and lower levels of your aquarium.
